not that I condone 3base turtling ... but the reason the current maps are made this way is that if the protoss doesnt expand before 12 minutes, there's a good chance that he'll never expand. You need a simcity up before 200/200 roaches try to slam you down


Look at maps like daybreak ... where zerg players can slam korean GM protoss with roach maxes. From there, the metagame defines itself .... expand before 12 minutes and try not to die. With the new recall spell you can sit on 2base a little longer than before ... but time is still against you if you try to 2base too long without going all-in

Haven't had the chance to see storm in action vs hydras yet, but now that you mention it that would be pretty effective vs hydras. I will think on this more.

Protoss is the weakest race on these maps thus, at this moment, Skytoss isn't a problem. Right now it's easy to kill a Protoss before they get to the "unbeatable" composition since it will mostly always be starting on 2 base.

Queen/Swarmhost is actually amazing vs Stargate openers, I'm not really sure how to beat it aside from warp prism counter attacks with chargelots which only really trades because you can't ever engage their swarmhost/queen "siege" on your base.

Mutas vs non stargate openers is actually just gg

On a map like entombed I could see Protoss doing really well being able to turtle, or maybe cloud kingdom, but holy shit these maps are bad for Protoss in the map pool. It's hard to judge any sort of balance because of it.

Queen SH, it really depends how greedy they're being. When I go air, I've been doing +1 zealot pressure with it, and then just keep countering/forcing units while you go VR. If you scout the infestation pit, go vr/double collo. Try to take a third while buying time with counters. But I agree SH queen is fucking sick, those damn transfuses. If you can catch them before theyre at your doorstep, that helps a lot too ^

one thing ppl don't realize is VR were nerf vs all non armored units ( aka queens )

VR colo gets pooped on by big SH/Q siege and if you open zealot pressure / sg ( like sg+4gate ) you can actually just be held by the queen/ling count pretty easily and then you're stuck with low tech and on these maps the zerg shouldn't let you get a third
