We don't. Christmas is [was] a celebration of Christ's birth, not his birthday. It's become a consumerist cockfest recently.

the celebration at the 24 and 25th was an imperial adoration of the sol invictus (god of the sun) among the romans as well as the midwinter fest among the celtics before the christians started to celebrate christmas.
there are tons of different theorys why the christians started to celebrate christmas at the same date, but none is proven.
nonetheless, saying that christmas is paganism is plain wrong.

There were pagan celebrations at the time, when christmas is now, christianity just have developed his own, it was easier this way to convert pagan people and their pagan habits into christianity.
But if we are talking about FUCKING CHRISTMAS, it's a christian holiday, since people were fucking christian, and had this idea of having a fucking holiday of their own at this time. We celebrate the christian event of Jesus Christ's birth, not pagan stuff.
I'm not religious though, and I don't give a fuck, but please go be fucking dumb somewhere else.
