Depends on the current circumstances. You have to make the decision based on the situation. There isn't an ultimate good decision. If you feel safe, then put it on your third. If not then make it inbase.

This. If your opponent has been pressuring you a lot build it at home, if he's been passive/you have map control go at the 3rd. This goes for all maps, not just Daybreak.

how to deal with mid-lategame dts
I can't find myself a proper solution, leaving units at each base isn't really a thing i can afford, nor can i make a pf everywhere at this point in time
replay related

(here i kind of dealt with it, but imo it should've been much more efficient some other way)
/this was a custom game and i know the guy well

and also, I slightly feel getting a bit faster

I've been saying that mid-late game cloaked harass is the way of the future. A random banshee or a DT can take out a base quickly if left unattended, and the cost of producing one unit is relatively low. I think the solution is to have a group of marines (4-6) that can run over and react to that type of harass.
Protoss/Zerg obv don't have this problem because they have unmanned turrets...but the harass would still be effective if they don't make defenses at every base.

That's way different. A DT transition is not what I'm advocating, but that's what Day9's phrase means. I'm saying when you have all your wonderful tech and you're basically maxed out and positioning is the biggest thing on peoples' mind...throw in cloaked units. His phrase refers to desperation tactics.

Plus I've been saying it basically since the beta...since banshees have always been my favorite SC2 unit I've always tried to think of cool ways to use them ^.^

you should actually look at some of my replays, I utilize them mostly great in my biomech tvp.
That opening includes a 1rax expand -> rush for siege tanks, have 2-3 on the high ground, allins disallowed -> get banshees fast ( i hit a standard timing with my banshees, even with the tanks out, since i build my gases(on my nat) to be ready by the second the second cc lands on the natural) -> go for a harass, make a third cc, then do a pressure at 12 minutes when i claim my third expansion ( Thor banshee siegetank marine marauder with stim/combatshield). Against templar opens, it's an autowin.
I can use banshees to snipe HTs behind the cover of a raven pdd (most protosses don't feedback the pdd somewhy, at least not in time) but if the protoss is very present with his observers and I see I can't engage with my cloak banshees on his units without srsly endangering my units, I can snipe the obs with 1-2 vikings and then proceed to do the same. Works pretty well, I just felt a bit passive, but that should've been eliminated through doing hellion drops and such, but i just left doing it recently, and just do standard in tvp, I'll wait for hots with my stuff, mech will srsly support my playstyle in hots, and it'll be cool.

Because my biggest weakness is multitasking I get SO fucking frustrated when a games progression doesnt lead to passive build up to deathball armies. I end up just building 30 canons everywhere and hope for the best.
