Well i thought at least you had something to throw into the prize pool, just coming here organizing tournaments without any background won't lure anyone. Put up a prize and people will show up. There were and are tournaments going on here.
I will have something to throw in the prize pool, but there will be entry fees as well since I can't be the only one funding. Plus general donations kinda like a lotto type deal.

The best way to divide tournaments is to have two: one for players platinum and under, and one for players diamond and over.
Your tournaments either need to be a day long or a month long; either do everything in a single day (grueling) or give players a week per round so they can find time to play each other. I have had a lot of success with the lengthier model.
Do not be afraid to DQ people that do not show up to play their games.The reason most tournaments die is because the person running them is afraid to drop no-shows from the proceedings.
Come up with rules for deciding the starting map and subsequent maps (all rounds start on map x, loser picks from ladder maps?).
Let me know if you need help organizing, drafting the rules, or running the tournament.

Kind of sucks for metal though. You always get 2 plat players who are ex top diamond/master that just shit stomp the low leagues and walk away with the prize money. It's happened in every tourney I've played in.
I've made a note of this, I'll post how I have rules, ranks, prize monies, etc... when I have everything compiled into an acceptable document.

On a general note, I've started making notes, and drafting a charter, if you will, and will post it at a later date.
I'm really excited for people who are willing to participate in these future events. I promise it'll be good fun!
