Europe doesn't understand veterans day because the last war we had with them what Germany and Russia didn't kill we finished off.

ah school, where the hardest thing is to not be like every other useless teenager and give in to partying/fun instead of studying.

time and a place. you have your whole lives ahead of you to do that. make your time count when it matters most instead of wasting it in the military, especially infantry, like wtf

i dont think you know anything about the military lol

ps. I understand the stereotype though, I had it as well when I joined up. I don't know where it came from.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. I practically grew up on a military base (edit: not a literal one) and had a family that pretty much ran its own charity for the troops in Iraq.

It's not exactly hard to tell that most people decide to join the military not because they feel particularly altruistic.

can you tell me why i shouldn't have joined the military

i joined and am making 60k a year in my first year with guaranteed raises every year, the first few being an extra $600 a month per raise

i work standard 8-4 hours of a regular job

when I leave I'll have money banked and a sick job reference

some people who better abuse the system get their schooling paid for by the military, end up with great job experience and subsequently an amazing job reference.

I'm confused where people are wasting their lives here because they still have the time to party and do whatever else everyone is doing.

less than eight months after graduating high school I was making $70k a year with just my IT certification (seriously). I was basically paid to sit on my ass and look at a computer screen all day not actually accomplishing anything. there are so many lucrative opportunities out there that are wasted and looked over when you join the military. I was making double what my brother was earning after his being in the marines for nearly five years. you waste a ridiculous amount of amazing opportunities by joining the military to open a path to a bunch of mediocre ones.

because in the years you spend in the military you could actually be setting yourself up for an incredibly successful future instead of at best an above-average lifestyle.

youre making more than 70k for being an IT guy in the military lol

plus they pay for your schooling to learn it

i think that's my regret with the military, that I didn't wait until a position in the IT section was open

while america's decision making has been pretty fuckn weak over the last century or so
doesn't mean our soldiers should take the same amount of blame.
lets be honest, just by looking at the suicide rate, they probably don't need you to criticize them
they understand very well whats happening

i know plenty of people that were straightened out because of the military and are much better off because of it
and plenty that work at the stop n shop because they can't get any work after their service

regardless, we should support them anyway possible.
even if its a random day to celebrate them.

this is coming from some1 who hates celebrating anything, fuck birthdays and facebook for making me notice them 24/7
