Thats a totally valid argument... When I was growing up I was amazing at baseball.. I was on route to get a scholarship... but I had an injury, didnt really recover and theres the "what if" thought in my head...

gaming, and starcraft in particular, is starting to feel like that... the "what if" mentality is kicking in, and I don't want it to be another thing later in life I regret not taking a  shot at.

Obviously with any passion, there is risk/reward involved... and I'm aware its a high risk / low reward...

But I plan to tell my kids growing up they can be whatever they want to be, yet I dont want to be the one who was too chicken shit to try and do, what I will preach to them.

I mean i fell ya but theres a LOT of sc2 players its like trying to walk on a NFL team, ya its great to dream it but why throw away you job and your life
to be on their level they play 14+ hours of the day, ide rather my dad tell me i could be anything i want to be and spend time with me and go to his boring job than i never see him and him be a pro sc2 player

Unfortunately, this is simply untrue.

It's probably far more responsible to work and earn a steady salary and provide some financial security to your kids than chase a selfish dream and justify it as "practicing what you preach". But I reckon it depends on your financial situation exactly, what your wife earns and the type of job security she has etc

I would advise you to stick with your job and start spending more of your free time on the game. If you can't reach Grand Masters league in a few months of dedicated gaming, you probably aren't cut out to be a professional.

get gm without going full time before even thinking about being pro is the right choice
