cats was showing off his natural block vs cc firsts on the show 'meta - a show about starcraft2'.

he said it is a hard counter to cc first on the high ground.

wall off with your cc so you don't lose to early pools, if he makes a hatch at your nat you can pull off gas (leave 1 in) and make a 2nd rax + 1 bunker on each side of the hatch (2 total) you just wanna prevent him from getting the spines up or spreading creep, then from there you can do whatever you usually do - remember to put back into your gas though if you wanna tech up past factory or if you want widows or w/e

also you don't want your bunker to be touching the minerals, it has to be the other 2 sides imo

I get zergs stealing my nat and sometimes I dont see until its actually done because im contained by lings or w-e outside til hellions gets out and I have nothing to scout natural

And once it gets up they make a queen 2-3 spines (obviously i try to avoid this) and drop a few creep tumors and just pain in the ass to kill when u open cc first/rax/gas...


what should I do


it was a reply to fej, patrolling with an scv won't do shit because he'll make the hatch where the scv isn't =.=

You mean like rax/factory then 2nd rax with the extra mins from the pulled workers off gas?

no it should be something like rax, pull off gas, rax (this is before your 1st rax even finishes i'm pretty sure) orbital bunker orbital bunker <-- that isn't exact but should be somewhat close i'm sure you can figure it out if you try it once or twice

I'll just pull off workers and go for 3-4 rax bio I guess and push with combat shield maybe (if they arent 2 base all ining me) and tech to medi after/mines...seems good

The thing is by the time I kill the creep/hatch I feel like my main would be half mined out (even if I save up mules for my natural) ~ worst income too

I'd feel very behind in general landing my cc so late at natural...idk maybe that's just me

Depending on the map you could wall off your natural instead of your main to start. This should give you adequate time to have some kind of defense against early pressure on your xpo.

Pretty sure you can't wall your natural with 3 buildings on any maps (depot/rax/cc)

that's why you get out more marines, i also attack the hatch with my scout scv + the scv that finishes my cc and rax at my wall just to get it down earlier o_O

but if you prevent creep from being spread or spines from going up you won't be in that shitty of a position

Yeah I'll have to check this out and timings and stuff next time some1 does it to me. I was going factory tech anyway just because I had the 120 gas or so already.

But what I was mainly talking about is if u get 10 pool + natural steal...if they attack your wall with 8 lings...and steal nat you can'T make bunker + go out until you have like 4 marines or so or maybe 3 and a few scvs idk
it just seems like the contain can give them the time to get the hatch up (especially if they keep making more lings just to be able to get the hatch up with spines then droning after

And your 2nd rax is kinda delayed alot so u wont have many marines at all and cant make bunker


Defending a natural steal if they arent early pooling should be an easy win I guess if I pull off workers and go heavy bio (havnt tried it yet, except once, I kept going factory)
