Starcraft 2 is a really good game, I'd go with starcraft 2.

IDK if you've heard of it, but there's a pretty good game called Starcraft II. Not quite as good as its predecessor, Starcraft: Brood War, but still a solid game. It just had an expansion, so it should have a pretty good sized player base too.

Yes, the expansion to Starcraft 2 is a game that I would recommend for fun playing.

alternativily if you dont want to go down this route, the non expansion version of starcraft II (wings of liberty) still has a fairly large player base as well, if youre not looking for starcraft II Heart of the Swarm which i think you mentioned, then definantly give Wings of Liberty a try, its a solid game
