protoss is easiest, then terran. Zerg is hardest by far

yep, if you want to just derp out on boring easy mode all day then play protoss. Terran is imbalanced as well but at least theres some skill to it. Zerg is hardest race to play by far and loses to imbalance all the time

Hello there.
I've just started playing SC2 and i must admit i find it quite fun, even considering the fact that i loose pretty much every online multiplayer game, which i play.
And for that reason i have decided to ask for a little help, since i'm conviced i will find this game even more entertaining once i can actually compete instead of getting destroyed each game.
Now, for your information i play Terran (basically because it was the first i was introduced to, and the most simple for me atm), and i have gotten to the point, where i have realised that it is very important to always make sure your units are in constant work. I heard the term ''Macro'' or to have a good macro, which basically means a good use of your economy along with a good production of units what so ever.
Furthermore i've learned to ''Wall-in'', isolating my base, which have given me more time once in a while and also kept scouts away from my base.
Speaking of scouts, i've heard many say that it is very important to have a look at your enemies base/bases, so you have an idea what they are building and therefore will know how to counter or deal with this.
And here to comes my greatest issue. I have NO clue at all about how to react to what they are building. I never know, wether i should go for a quick attack, or stay back and maybe expand quickly. I have no idea about what the diffrent buildings or structures do, along with many monster types.
I know most of this comes through experience and playing, surely. On the other hand, i wondered if there were some kind of guide how to know what to go for and so on.
That being said, i would love ANY kind of advice of how to adapt to the game more quickly. Good keybindings to make, good early game decisions.  - Whatever works good for you guys, basically.

In case you've read my whole message and find some time to share your experience and advices, I would appriciate if you keep a more or less simple language and not too many shortcuts, as i'm not very much into the terms yet.
Thank you for your time.

I would advise you to look up Day9 on youtube and watch his videos of "Newbie Tuesday". Apart from that, play the campaign from WoL as that will get you more integrated in the Terran playstyle.
Finally, look up a basic build and use it. In terms of simplicity, I would advise this:

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/1_Rax_FE

With the 3 rax follow up. It will provide you a reasonable amount of production with a strong economy. I will post a generic replay of this build later today.

Practice this build in an empty game until you get the hang of the basics (maybe 3-4 times) then try it out in multiplayer. Best of luck :)

watch a few of those, he explains it pretty simple for beginners:

http://day9.tv/archives/?page=14&q=terran

other than that, just watch some streams and try to copy the builds they do. just start with one build and do it over and over again, no matter what your opponent does. once you hit silver league you can start playing reactionary and scout but as long as you don't know what they do and you don't know the counter it is pointless

Copying pros will not help at his level. He needs to get back to the basics, and IMO the simplest build for Terran is the 1 rax expand. Regardless of how good reaper expands are, he doesn't yet have the micro/understanding to really do it well. 1 rax FE until gold, then learn 1 build order for each MU, then at plat/diamond start to branch out.

not a bad idea to copy the first 5min of any pros expand build/all in
as that would give him a huge boost in eco or speed up his all in

the first 5min are very important
if you dont built the right stuff at the right time, you are essentially crippling yourself

for terran

there really is only 2 main builds, bio(marine marauder medvak & mines now) and mech (hellion/tank/thor/raven)
you can mix them or go one of the many harass units
late game transition is usually into battlecruiser/raven vs zerg or just mass production w/ ghost vs toss

you should focus on learning an expand build or two and some 1base harass builds and an all in or two

macro = one of the most important things
if you do not manage ur base, your micro will not matter

Which is why I recommend he pick a very basic, macro-oriented build that can take him through the first five minutes. The 1 rax FE!
