what do you mean dies? does it freeze, shut down, restart, BSOD?

It just freezes/lags REALLY BAD. Like 1fps/choppy as shit.

after doing some digging, others have/had this problem as well. Unfortunately, couldnt find an answer

Yeah :\ I'm going to just go ahead and format, put a diff video card in and cross my fingers.

Video card is not the reason for your problem.
At least Reinstall sc2 and your web browser.
Do a malware scan.
If things go terrible and you can't find an answer i would just reformat.
