I've played starcraft 2, but, at least for me, it's lacking the special feeling Starcraft 1 had. SC2 just feels like..another game. It might just be because I've played SC1 so much, but, SC2 feels dumbed down, SC1 will and always be a special game for me...and the fact that when I log in and there are 10,000 out of 40,000 players on battle.net playing SC1 must mean something.

i played sc, sc bw, sc2 wol and now sc2 hots.
i would say sc1 > sc2, if you consider the time it was released, balancing and esport.
sc/bw was the most important esport game for a decade, sc2 is really good and will maybe live up to the earlier success of sc/bw.
anyway if there was sc/bw with sc2 graphics it would be > sc2 imo

Not necessarily...there are still many open games, UMS, Melee, everything. Whenever I host a popular map its filled up within less than a minute...people still play that game.
