its more about your diet than reps of sit ups / crunches lol..
This times 1000.

You can do 1000 situps a day but won't have any abs to show for it unless you cut your body fat to atleast below 12~14%
Crunches are bullshit, stick to standard situps and leg raises
It's actually 10% or less for most people.

mmm I hear so many people say crunches are shit, then hear a bunch of others saying standard sit ups are shit, and back and forth back and forth back and forth
WHICH ONE IS IT

You're better off doing crunches because that way, you're constantly using these muscles. With situps, you're not constantly 'applying pressure' to the muscles. (I hope you understand this, seeing as it's quite hard for me to put it in correct english words)
For starters, I suggest you doing 3 times 10 reps of straight crunches and 3 times 10 reps of bicycle crunches (once left and once right counts as one rep) Take 45 to 90 seconds break between each set of 10. When you're doing this with ease, increase reps with increments of 2 untill you hit 20 reps per set. You don't need to increase your reps beyond this point, just make sure you exercise enough and eat healthy.
