Watching Starcraft 2 vods/streams/casted games helps a lot. This allows you to get a feel and understanding of what is common/normal and allows you to learn the proper responses to various strategy. Don't get too mad when you lose, especially when it's to cheesy stuff like proxies or early pools. Every race has pro's and cons, so once you figure out what you are good at, and what you're not so good at, you can determine which race suits you. For example, Terran requires very quick control to do things such as split marines and kite, Protoss requires great precission to hit forcefields perfectly. Zerg requires you to scout and not engage horribly, often times you want to surround the enemy by doing flanks. Obviously this isn't all the races are, but each race requires certain skill sets to do well.
