Specifically:

Nobody really wants to play PvZ these days with how risky lategame engagements are against BL/infestor/corruptor.

every terran is petrified at the thought of TvZ...The only terran who could beat DRG and take the group by storm is Polt.

terran would be the best default choice. Life is running on an 80% winrate in ZvT over the last three months. He is 53-10 in sets and 22-1 in BoX series against the top players in the world. Life is 7-0 against Taeja in the last month, 5-1 versus MarineKing and mauled Flash in their rematch in the semifinals of MLG Dallas. Most of those games were one-sided stomps. In addition to getting a fairly weak opponent, it’s almost certain that the terran would pick another terran to increase his personal chances of getting out of the group.

Every terran does not want to play zerg, and MarineKing is no exception. Ever since the queen buff his TvZ has been severely nerfed in terms of viable openings

Not sure what to make of the rise of Zerg right now. Is it balance, or is it that Terran and Protoss need to rethink builds/strats. By numbers we can say that Zerg is very strong right now. I have heard on multiple interviews of pros that Broodlord/infestor is really strong and tough to beat. Looking at GSL, WCS and the rest of 2012 tournaments have all Zerg groups/so many zergs.

But again, SC history has eras of Zerg being dominant, Terran being dominant and Protoss being dominant. I think we need to wait a little bit more.

When has the Zerg dominance started? Like 6 months - 1 year?

Then getting nerfed underground.
Give the same bullshit to zerg, they deserve it.

If zerg was overpowered, why hasn't Idra won a tournie in 1.5 years?

Flawless logic.
I'm starting to understand why they call you the starcraft professor around these forums.

Because IdrA is amongst the bottom feeders of SC2 progamers.

Terran has been dominant since launch to late 2011
Zerg has been dominance since late 2012 until now
Protoss hasn't been dominant since MC's 2base all ins

So yeah, seriously is it balance? Or is it that Zerg just figured out a solid build. Who knows, no solid proof yet. We have to wait. We can theorycraft/argue about it though.

Not sure myself what it is exactly.

I think zerg perfected the defensive measures to tech up and be more economically stable and ready for attacks than other races.

i'm sure with hots they're going to move more towards normalizing zerg casters to synergize better with unit composition, with the addition of the viper.

i'd love to see them put viper on spire to increase incentive for viper/broodlord and infestor/ultra, but as it stands, if they nerf infestors going into hots and leave the tech trees they way they are, zerg transitioning into late game is going to be miserable.

e: and sure, infestors may be a bit too strong, but they're managable. the thing that was great about brood war balance was the fact that everyone accepted balance changes were a thing of the past, and presented opportunities for meta shifts instead of whiny forum nerds.

who knows, we could see a meta shift that seems to be a step back more than a step forward, such as a preference for lower econ games in zvx to prevent infestor dominance. it happened in brood war, and it could happen in sc2.
