It's to hide their builds (if everyone's called ||||||||, nobody knows who's doing what build). Pro players use this a lot.

Some people do it because they always use the same build so if they play the same person more than once in a row, it gets predictable.

And there's the group of fags that just get that name to be cool and look like korean pro's.

about 95% of them are smurfs, in about 25% smurf rate in bronze league in general
