Hey guys,

I know everything is situational, but if you scouted these builds or were in these situations, what would you do? :) (Playing Protoss)

Turtle terran with nukes. Just constantly losing my expansions even with detection etc, couldn't keep track on them all.

Mass mutalisks with ultralisks.

Turtle terran in general..What's the best way to pop them?

ultra muta hmm?

what were you doing for the first 30 minutes of the game where they just made mutas and ultras? If I had to pick a composition to deal with this, it would probably be like ... immortal/archon/phoenix/void ray

But in most games you'll deal with the mutas first, and if he manages to retain all of them and still get out 10 ultras, then you were probably outplayed

It was originally mass mutas and lings.
I went zealots, sentries and phoenix. I dealt with it okay, probably coming off second best but held on.
Scouted and saw ultras, i lost to all in.
Macro wasn't great that game, expo kept getting harrassed.

If you can't dominate the first wave of mutas you should f10+n out

Because I'm bad for not dominating them, or because it's all downhill from there?

I figured in silver people might still mess up, but i don't really surrender until i'm properly screwed.

Its downhill

Unless you pre-emptively go phoenix the first wave of 8~12 mutas will do guaranteed damage on your workers and force a lot of additional resources on cannons and extra probes
They'll double expand behind this and commit to mutas off 10 gas or transition into ling/ultra/infestor if they see you reacting with a stargate

Okay thanks,

So I guess we could say I lost because I didn't scout mutas early enough/ react quick enough?

If terran is turtling hard just keep pressure at his expansions and harass his mineral line with pheonix and drops aswell as expanding since hes turtling you should have atleast 3 bases for free

If your opponent turtles, get all your tech/upgrades and expand a bunch. When it comes time to break him, colossi outrange everything...so you can kill him whenever you have colossus range.

In regards to mutas, phoenixes are really the best option. If you don't have stargates up already, you'll need to get blink stalkers ASAP and move towards HT/archon tech while adding cannons (1-3) at your mineral lines. If he only has a few mutas, you can get away with this response. If he's going mass mutas you need to get phoenixes out or get mass cannons and go all-in.

Your opponent should probably not have enough gas to have ultras and mutas until the late game, so at that stage you'll have void/colossus/archon/ht with zealots in front, which should take care of muta/ultra without too much difficulty. Just make sure to hit storms (not storm yourself) and use the archons to specifically target the mutas as opposed to a-moving them.
