Depends on the race.

If you play protoss, your build order is everything.

Copy any pro's build and use it yourself for a pretty easy GM promotion.

but after being in masters for a pretty long time, you'll realize that you could do it any day again in just 20 games while streaming & talking shit on stream

They matter a lot for Protoss. For Zerg it's more about gas timings than anything from what I understand.
