you get promoted when you can beat people in the league above...

then keep playing?

it promotes you when you beat the right people... you can beat a bunch of bronze, then die to a silver, and you won't get promoted. you need to beat better players -> promotion

Don't worry about rank. Blizzard will normalize it as you play more games. For now just worry about improving.
