What exactly does this mean and how do I play them?

I was just randomly browsing my achievements online and noticed that the matchmaking games now count for unranked games.
I am not sure what this means and I haven't played SC in a while. Can anyone elaborate? Thanks in advance.

Step 1: Click on the "Start Menu", then navigate to "All Programs".
Step 2: Select "Starcraft II" in the "Starcraft II" folder.
Step 3: Wait for the updater to confirm your files, then push the "Play" button in the lower right hand corner of the window (it will turn orange to signal it is ready).
Step 4: Using your Battle.net account information, log into Starcraft II with your corresponding e-mail and password.
Step 5: Select "Matchmaking" from the menu on the left side of your screen.

Step 6: Select "Unranked" on the top menu, then set the other settings to your preferred status.

When you are ready, click the "Play" button. You will be matched against another player shortly.
Good luck and have fun!
