I'm on a budget, I don't want to go beyond 500$.

My current specs are as follows:

3.2 Ghz i5 processor
8GB ram
Radeon HD 6800 series - the EAH 6850 specifically
650W psu

I get fps spikes lately in games, and it's frustrating me a lot, what would you guys do ?

On a $500 dollar budget i would just stick with what you have. No need to build a whole new computer unless you can sell the one you have to a buddy or something. I would just upgrade your graphics card with the money that you have, maybe buy an SSD to cut down on loading time. You're CPU seems fine at 3.2 Ghz.

Also you should post this problem in the computer discussion forum and try to get Dolarz advice or that guy with the Dog picture. Those two have been on that forum forever.

Here's a website that i like to use to see what highend gear there is out there.

Edit: you could also use Vertical Sync, which makes it stay at a constant 60 fps.

Thanks I will check this out. I've heard a lot about sc2 being more cpu intensive than video card which is why I was considering a newer cpu, but I think a new gpu would be the best bet as well.

Once it gets to 12+minute smy fps drops a lot and it becomes difficult to micro.

like a defrag? Because there's a lot of free space on it.
