Right now, LiquidZenio is stream, so he's probably best to watch.

If you watch Life's GSL games he went ling ultra a lot. Same with his MLG games from yesterday, lots of ling ultra play. He went broods twice vs Flash when Flash went mech but other than that it was ling ultra.

They don't understand the place ultras hold. Much like people who QQ about Roach OP don't understand the place roaches hold.
Ultras are a momentum unit. If you play hyper aggressive and have a big advantage from dealing damage, go ultras and rely on your momentum to win. This is basically what Life does. He's super aggressive early game, usually gets to get some good damage in on his opponent with ling/bling pressure, then uses ultras to run them over (not giving them time to recover). Broods take a long time to build corruptors => morph broods => move across the map. They are stronger in a fight but the time it takes to ready them can allow for an opponent to struggle back into the game.

The other purpose that most people use them for is tech switch against mass AA, making Terran vikings useless. And that is a good reason to use them too.

I have like 150 1v1 games played since literally the release day of the game. They're all spaced out too, so I never put in a huge chunk of time. I'm just a good thinker.

Basically...
I played random (3 races to learn vs 1 race).
I never bothered to look up "optimized" builds.
Never learned timings on attacks for all 9 BO's (to defend against them).
Terrible at knowing when to scout/push.
Never practice enough to hammer down solid mechanics.
Low APM.
Never use map hotkeys.

I may make a serious comeback over winter break though as Terran so we'll see where the future takes me.
