if u collect 100 lockboxes you might be able to trade them for one enchanted key.

when i found my first nightmare lockbox and saw i needed to pay to open it i knew then and there i would not be spending any real money on the game.

You can easily get a item that is worth 2-3 keys by doing T2 dungeons and with the dungeon delve event your chances to get something worth a key are quite high.
