Don't fool yourselves. It may be open beta but it's just another term for release these days. Game developers slap the "beta" tag on it so that people will say "But this is beta, bugs are normal" just like you guys are doing right now.
The reality is: This is release, there will be no wipes, it's only a marketing and psychological tactic that game developers use to trick people.
Source: I make games
The game is in "beta" not because they say so but because of the amount of time the game has been tested. The game has had 15 days of CLOSED testing (not including alpha). This is not NEARLY enough time to get all the bugs out. Heck, there are ALWAYS going to be bugs with a game that is updated as frequently as an RPG game. The fact is, this game is still in its very early stages, thus "beta". The company did beta as open so they can make money, to further support development. It makes sense seeing as everything up until the "open beta" was out of their pocket. Time to start getting some back. As games cost more and more and more to make, small game developers have (not read as indie) have to monetize their games sooner in order to push a full cycle. It is hard to come out of pocket so much money without seeing anything in return. Thus, the "open beta" tag is used. I think the only people being psychologically fooled are the people who try to reverse psychology the non existent psychology in the first place. I feel the f2p games get more slack for being in "open beta" than paid games do (like d3 etc). When someone offers a 100% free game, after spending so much in development, who are we to complain there are some things wrong with it. Or that it "isnt really beta". Its 100% free game, just enjoy it?
Heres the facts, the game is what it is and isnt what it isnt. You either enjoy it or you dont. Why are we even sitting here talking about what the game devs are or arent thinking / doing / conspiring / etc.
