this is my third char I don't really want to play through again, just want to try and find gear

is there a way to finish normal mode and finish vault hunter mode? so I can have all fast travels and stuff

No. Just rush it. Walk through everything. I have completed the story line in about 5 hours just walking through all. Even Quicker with two of you.
