From Hellface (One of the GBX Devs):
There is a loot drop after every boss wave right under Moxxi's stage. He was mistaken. Every round, it gets better.

There is no XP gain, because you have sooooo much combat that you'd power level every time you enter the Colloseum and ruin the main game. Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot isn't about leveling up OR the loot. This is about the combat and the challenge.

Of course, if you like loot, it also comes with a bank.

More from Hellface:
This is very much for level 50 players, but anyone past level 10 can give it a go. It will intelligently set the enemies to an appropriate level. However, at lower levels, you may find The BIG Tournament insurmountable.

The Small Tournament is fun, and more accessible. It can be completed as a quest in both playthrough 1 and playthrough 2 for a small but precious reward.

You CAN complete challenges and get Challenge XP. Conveyor of Death is pretty much guaranteed in the horde wave, and you will kill more enemies per minute in this than anywhere else in the main game. Or you’ll die. Unlike the main game, in this one Dying Hurts, and that makes ALL the difference.

The Big Tournament… It’s not for the casual guy. The Big Tournament is a challenge. No one here had ever beaten it in single player. To my knowledge, no one anywhere has beaten it in single player. Bring your friends, and you’d damn well better work as a team. It’s not optional this time.

We brought in some hardcore Borderlands fans to playtest, and the were – to a man – giddy. This one is all about the level 50 player with nothing left to prove. If that’s you, you’re gonna love this.

If that’s not you, then the Small Tournament is several hours of great fun that you can do in both playthroughs. It gives a real nice reward, an achievement, and you get a bank for yer stuff.

If none of this appeals to you – cool! Don’t buy it. We love you anyway! Me, I’d buy it just for Moxxi. She’s awesome.
