im gonna roll a melee dps

just wondering what would be a good starter class for me im not experienced in wow at all so something sorta easy to learn and operate while still being useful

Unholy death knight. Can sponge damage so forgiving to learn and an AOE monster. Not too many spells either, great for beginners.

ok is rogue hard? they interest me the most tbh and so do dks so unholy isnt out of the question either

rogue is arguably the hardest mdps.

Are you gonna play Classic or Shadowlands?

shadowlands

Ret pally or warrior

DK or War. Rogue is not ideal for a beginner

Play what you want. You'll learn faster if the class is actually interesting to you
Imagine playing a class and you're always thinking about "how would the rogue perform now"

ret or ww monk, both classes can do all 3 roles and with both they're usually melee role's with healers in raids too. Been a melee dps on every class and those are by far the most fun because of versatility. rogue is the "hardest" to learn because of PvP. Also no signs of either being bad any time soon when it comes to PvE if that's what you're interested in and ret is insanely strong in PvP as well.
Edit: ret has low mobility along with unholy dk but only downfall of ret
