I've been running a protection paladin for a while, but wanted to try a retribution paladin. Someone told me I can run both, but I've read switching specializations costs gold and makes you lose progress.

Can anyone clarify any of this?

I have both you got set him up that way with gear

Is it free though? You can just switch between each and all the skills by simply hitting "activate" whenever you want? or at least outside of combat

You can switch freely between specs and change your talents for free as long as you are not in a pvp zone if you are in a pvp zone it takes a tomb of tranquil mind to change a talent if u are in one though. You can also enable warmode in org or stormwind i think dalaran works to. atleast from what i remember lol


you havent had to pay for a spec change/talent change since mop pretty sure they ended that after cata

side note you can change the talents on your azerite gear if u wanted to dps ones instead of tank one but that does cost gold to reset them.

I haven't played this game since a tiny bit on and off on BC and WOTLK on my friends account, so this is my first real character I've made and just kinda leveling through the zones. Protection is fun and doesn't really die... but its slow to kill lol. I want to try and see how dps is on the ret build. As long as I do not lose any skills/money/items or whatever, I'll swap over to that for a while
