Hi guys, like many of you I'm going back to WoW on August 27th, and as I used to play a priest until cataclysm, I want to reroll a priest again. I started Wow at BC, and never played Vanilla, so I'd like to ask you what are your thoughts about priests in Vanilla? What are the best specs? How would you rate them compared to other classes in PvP and PvE?

Thought about Priest too..

Facts: Dwarf or Undead
Lvling -> easy since you dmg spell + dot + wand and mana reg buff after kill so no downtime
PvP -> Fucking Badass nice (sould go engineer)
PvE -> you will have so many friends if you go holy since youre best heal in game!.. even if you shadow you can heal 5 man instances easy. there not so many raid slots for shadow but .. yeah
so -> if you go pvp/5 man go shadow/Engineer and you will have so much fun! if you go 100% PvE go holy!

Is shadow the only really viable spec when it comes to PvP?

hmm not sure about that :/ but i think if you wanna pvp with priest go shadow.. if you wanna pve go holy.. if you wanna go heal in pvp go paladin.

You want to level as shadow(holy if you're in a group dungeon grinding). At 60 the only spec that's really viable is holy for healing. Shadow isn't as good at 60(assuming you're raiding and not just solo gold farming) because there aren't enough debuff spots on monsters for shadow priests to cast their dots.

If you don't care about PvE and just want to PvP then you can go shadow with engineering and tech in a little holy for stronger self heals

Sidenote: If you're NA, it comes out on the 26th. It's 27th for EU.

Shadow competes with hunter as being the #1 best in 1v1 PvP, but there is less room for shadow in premade WSG/AB. If any at all. Depends on how serious the premade and their goal is!

As a discipline priest, you're always wanted and needed in premade WSG/AB. Cannot fail there.

As a holy priest, you're always wanted in every piece of PvE content there is. Both 5-man and raids. You don't have to spec into deep holy until C'thun, btw. Can heal in shadow spec up until then. If your guild lets you do that, however, is an enitirely different matter. :P

Priests in vanilla, no matter disc, holy or shadow, is incredible. Both to play and be in classic WoW. You cannot go wrong, no matter what you do. :thumbsup: It's my choice as well.

As already mentioned, best races are dwarf for both PvE & PvP and undead PvP, troll PvE. The only one that really really matters is playing dwarf for Fear Ward. On the horde side, it doesn't matter just as much.

hell i was lvling my low lvl and i got 4 month ban for killing 1000 hord in pvp mode lol i get it back tomrow last i new if hord kill you you kill them all

Thanks for your answer guys :) I'll go for shadow until 60 ans then check what I'll do. Sad thing that disci is only useful for BGs, I really love that spec

Absolutely not, theres a tri spec, which goes poitns into all 3. which was the most common pvp spec

Also though, you can go disc/holy and power infusion yourself and body people with holy fire crits.
