Hey all,

So I'm coming back to WoW after 8 +/- years of not playing. Apparently my account was locked in 2010 because it was hacked (after I had already quit playing, so I never bothered dealing with it). I bought the expansion (including BfA) as well as a month of game time. Couldn't wait to see my ZG tiger mount again.

I log into the game and I'm in some area I don't remember in Northrend, (inventory stripped, cuz chinese farmer) with no idea of where to go. I have no icons on my toolbar and literally every facet of the game has changed. I sat there staring at things, finding hotkeys, looking at different menus. It was so overwhelming that I finally just logged out and renamed all of my toons before exiting. Trying to figure out how to spec was just too much to handle. It seems like everything is so simplified that my brain can't handle it.

My question is. Has anyone come back to this from the old system? How did you manage and are you still playing? I'm sure this question gets asked a lot since it's basically a completely different game.

I feel like my only option is to forget my other characters exist and start as if I were coming in as a brand new player from lv1, save my boost for xpac, and keep on trucking (if I make it that far)

Thoughts?

TIA

Your best bet is to try a new character and get a feel for the changes that they made. There are tons. Feel free to add my tag it’s in my sig. happy to help when I can.

Thanks bud.
Also, it looks like most servers are pretty barren except for maybe 10-15?
What are the best horde servers to play on that still have a decent economy? (E.G. something besides Illidan as I've read the chat is unbearable and 95% of the server is horde)
Since they're removing pvp/pve server tags that doesn't matter to me too much. Not wanting to play RP.

Area 52 and Emerald Dream are good from what i've heard for horde.
Honestly, a lot of RP style servers have a good economy due to the whole transmog thing so that is a decent way to go. They also do have people dedicated to actually playing instead of just hanging out and doing the whole RP bit.

At this point leveling is honestly a pain in the ass.
Since you bought BFA you have a 110 boost for free.
I'd recommend checking out streams/gameplay of classes/specs you think you'd be interested in then make your decision.
I'd make the decision based off of BFA though, some classes in current state are being nerfed, alot of them are staying relatively similar though.

I play on Thrall Horde, relatively populated horde realm.

i've been offline for years as well. i've played previous xpacs so i'm not quite as lost as you are, but i basically just rolled a new toon to get a feel so i'm not terribad at everything i do when i reach 110. leveling is fast and a breeze compared to back in the day.
