So my account doesnt have a membership anymore, so I am now back in the "trial" period. Is there anyway for me to purchase "tokens" / gold for a token in this or do I need to re-subscribe?

you can put a ticket in and a GM might give you some game time (a few hours, or if they're being generous, a day) for you to do something like trade a friend or get gold from your mailbox, just have a clear plan to show them what you want to do (if buying from d2jsp, "trading a friend")
