I'm looking to either move a single WoW character to a 2nd account, or unlink all my WoW accounts from my bnet account, but not sure if the process has changed in the last few years. Could someone link me to a guide that explains how the process works now, or share that info please?

IIRC the way it used to work is you had to do several things:

1) Purchase a full 2nd copy of the game and have an active subscription. ($40-50?)
2) Make sure the registered personal information matches on both accounts, or go thru some special process with support where they verify the 2nd account belongs to an immediate family member.
3) Pay the character transfer fee. ($25?)

Is there something I'm missing? I know at one point the whole process got gummed up by the new bnet account system where multiple games are all linked to 1 bnet account, and I can't remember if when I did this before they had implemented that new system yet or not.

Any help is appreciated, thank you. Would love to hear of any problems you guys have encountered while trying to do this in the past.

Also, how does bnet handle account sharing these days? If I'm not able to split my WoW account(s) or character(s) off my bnet account, would it be possible to share my account with someone else instead? The agreement would be that they use it only for WoW and that I keep using the bnet account to play the other games. (mainly D3 and SC2)

yeah you can move a single character or the whole battle.net account if you want.

well i mean they USED to let you move a single character, i moved my wifes character to her account when she got her own computer to use so it wasn't really viable to use 1 account back in wotlk, so im sure you still can.

/e you just have to provide info that shows you are the owner of both accounts.
i had to use mine, and my wifes ID as verification.

I was going to create a new 2nd account and prep it for transfer, which involves I guess buying a full copy of the game and being active sub? Ofc the info gonna match cause I'll just use mine again.

I know I can't trade the new account with whatever char I xfer here since it's not allowed, but obviously I'm asking this because I plan to do "something" with that account which will have the char on it lol just not here ofc. Came here cause I knew you guys would be a great resource to help me plan it out. Thanks for the help guys!

p.s. I heard this might be a "one-time only" kind of deal also, I'm sure it would look suspicious if I'm asking them multiple times to part off my chars lol, so actually probably the smartest move will be to just move the whole WoW account out of my bnet and bulk it. I've got SC2/D3/classics/etc. I plan to keep on my main bnet for personal use.

yeah they did say that, you cant ever get the character back on the original account, but you can transfer more than one character iirc

Sounds risky... If I'm suddenly creating 5 new bnets and xferring lvl 100s to each one I think that would just be a baaad idea lol. Safe deals best deals. Ofc that would maximize but not worth the risk I would guess.

Once you create the new account, don't like it with your main account just yet! If you have bunch of gold and plan to pay for the subscription with gold. buy all the game tokens you can before you merge. Once you have the game clients all merged onto 1 battle.net account. you are limited on the amount of game tokens you can buy with gold. i believe its 36 every 24 months(according to blue posts)

Also doing this is 100% legit, they will help you with the process. I do it all the time when i do RAF.

I'm actually not going to merge anything with my existing bnet account. I want to create a new bnet account and move the entire wow account to it.

As long as names match, they will move your game client over. You will have to call in or live chat. with photo ID and few other things. You may lose a bunch of mounts/toys/pets/achievements by doing this. LOT of things are battlenet bound. It is possible to ticket these items once you move, but unlikely they will give them all back. I lost few mounts and toys when I did this. BUT if you give no shits on losing these things, this will work for ya.

Don't the account bound fool ya. I moved one of my accounts off my bnet so i could buy 24 game tokens with gold, and then was moving it back. Even though it came back, i lost 4 mounts and few achievements. GMs still working to "resolve" this matter, 2 weeks later.

Hope this was helpful!

So how do I get them to do it? Received this reply:

" We won't be able to split a single account off of the Battle.net that you're using for your other games. If you have another Battle.net that you'd like to consolidate with your main account we can look into that though. "
