Ive never had any issue getting resources.. daily garriosn missons,daily heroic dungeons, daily LFR quest. , Tannan jungle dailys.. within 2-3 days can have more then enough resource to go to 3..

trading post

Kill the 3 rares near black gate in tannan jungle, you can do it daily for an easy 500~ resources.

Treasures/rares

Lumber Mill, Trading Post, dailies, heroics, and treasures. I got to 6200 resources in a week on a boosted 100. They start with 500. Get a tavern, and look for followers with scavenging.

fastest way by far is to go to tanaan with flying and pick up purple treasures in the bird area while world hoping via the lfg page. Just join random throne groups to keep hopping.
