Survival
Mastery: Essence of the Viper has increased in effectiveness by 19%.
Explosive Shot now deals 15% less damage.
Serpent Sting no longer deals an initial "tick" of damage when the periodic effect is first applied.

Would you think the mastery buff makes up for the nerf on the Explosive Shot and initial ''tick'' on serpant sting?

I've been playing surv for months now and pulling more dps than most hunters with my ilvl (that are MM or BM)

Wondering if I should quit surv

Here's my question for you: Why play Survival when BM parses and ranks much higher?

Here's my question for you: Why don't you just play something you enjoy playing?

i generally agree, but you have to consider that what some people most enjoy is pushing meters and maxing dps. some people raid just for the competitive aspect... who can put up the biggest #s. heck, as a dps in a raid, that's one of the few "carrots on a stick" you get.

Sounds like he want's to remain on his hunter (which isn't a bad choice considering they're relatively high on the meters as is)... I would suggest working on the other 2 specs, in the event [they] decide to nerf survival any more.

Also, PTR is free. Download it and copy your character over. Do some of your own theorycrafting and simcrafting!

SV is dead on the PTR atm, simming far behind both specs.
If you enjoyed the wack-a-mole playstyle of SV I suggest rerolling and playing a ret paladin.

Its not even hunters
Theyre just fucking one spec in all aspects for no reason
Tbh if numbers go through the only reason to play surv is if you want to be super mobile the whole time while dpsing, and even then i think bm is good enough at that

Oh well, doesn't really matter what they do. I love playing hunters and will just adapt to whatever happens. All 3 specs are more enjoyable to me than any other class, so I am happy either way. Even if all hunter specs were lowest dps class, I would still play a hunter. Last expansion I played BM the whole time. This expansion I have started out as MM then SV then BM then back to SV. I don't mind going back to other specs. But if they end up pretty close to each other, I will choose SV. Even when SV has been the lowest sim'd dps spec I for some reason have still pulled more dps than I do with BM and MM. It seems to fit my play style a lot better than the others overall.

If the purpose and answers you're seeking is more tethered towards which of the hunter specs will outperform the other two, currently in 6.1, I would suggest going BM. Survival is great too, but majority of the hunters I see stick with BM.

I out dps most BM on my ilvl. Thats the reason why I'm staying SV. Also, waiting for 2pc to go BM
