I have been playing Aion its interesting but not very many people play anymore and when areas are controlled by different groups its hard to do the campaign quests

Anyways, what would I have to buy to get started playing WoW? I wanted to try it out but I see so many expansions etc?

U can try for free. Just got to world of warcraft website register and you will get 10 days trial. Download is made from the official website of blizzard.

If you like then you can buy full game with all expansions for like 60$. It is cheap atm ;)

Full game + expansions AFTER tax including play time for your first month and a free level 90 boost will cost you about $65

The recruit a friend reward is pretty nice, so if you're swayed into trying it, make sure you let a friend send you the invite.

I've never played Aion but in the wilds you shouldnt experience too much resistance from members of the opposing faction.
WoW is open world, and it's pretty seamless when you transition from one area to the next, which is pretty stellar.
Trading and certain game content is realm exclusive, but you will most likely encounter people from other realms in less populated areas.
WoW isn't very difficult nor is it exciting often, but when it is, the grind feels worth it.
Getting into WoW seems like a pretty safe bet for anyone who's a casual gamer or interested in laboring in game for currency & prestige. It'll probably always be around so investments of time and money are much less volitile than most games I've experienced.
