like about being hacked n stuff... was this ever possible?

The way players usually get hacked if they follow to a fake armory website, phishing, fake e-mails where you input your stuff, blah blah, the usual

but what i wanna ask has there ever been something similar to d2, where the progarm under the guise of a ''free spectral tiger'' or ''free bot'' was like something you downloaded and it sold all ur items n stuff like for example in D2

.exe once u run it while ur d2 is open he drops all ur items @ ground closes d2 then shut down ur pc.

was this type of thing ever in wow




to mods I do NOT want nor want to attempt to scam anyone in wow just curious

Not sure, but I got hacked back in wrotlk...people usually try to say "lolnoobboughtgold" or "downloaded hax" but I really hadn't done anything that would have compromised my account to my knowledge...since authenticator (5~ years) I haven't had any issues.

Key loggers/phishing links would be #1 source of getting hacked I would imagine.

If you can get someone to run your .exe you can make their computer do whatever you want.

Or scripting undetectables in a backdoor on bot programs for all you lazy farmers. Keep in mind ANY PROGRAM "even safe ones" are or can be harmful..

For an example.. A simple chat bot such as Stealth Bot.. which was used by probably millions of people for talking in battle.net was designed in a harmful way.
The owner designed it so he could literally join any channel, type one command which was !bye. And crash all of your bots.

Some were designed to steal CD Keys for mass loading/flooding. Bruting is an easy method also if you have the right proxy ranges.
There will always be heartless jerks..

So yes, anything is possible. Play Safe :P

Except Battle.net 1.0 Didn't have an IP Check before you login into the account. Not to mention you can nowadays have an authenticator and a cell phone verification.
