level 91 on my wife and I's characters.
The gear they auto supply is garbage. The level 91 epics are like 2k-6k a piece

Yeah, you can choose to upgrade them if you want to keep them or if you have no luck on any drops.

I bought a weapon for each of my toons during WoD leveling...used quest rewards for al other items.

I can upgrade level 91 epics to better stats?

Yeah, you can get items to upgrade them from ilvl 640 to 655 then again 665.
Chest Legs and Helmet have the highest stats.
Weapons, trinkets, and accessories are also available.

However, each character can only equip a total of 3 crafted items, regardless of type or ilvl.

learned this the hard way after buying like 8 items total
