I'm looking for a game similar to how WoW used to be. I'm not the type who thinks Vanilla was amazing, but I do remember
challenges being fun. I'm wondering if there are any populated MMORPG's that haven't headed in the same direction WoW has.

Wow is at the top of food chain when it comes to MMO's maybe you need to step away from the MMO genre entirely. there is no wow clones and if there was people will just say the same shit like they do now, this isnt wow im going back to wow.

Try a private server if you want to play wow how it used to be, im willing to bet you'll be back on a live server before you even hit lvl 20, those nostalgia glasses are fogging up.

there's a lot of similar mmo's but the features that seem like they make wow less "challenging" are just quality of life changes man. they game still has very challenging end game and I seriously doubt you have conquered all of it.

ff14 was decent, all the dungeons and raids required decent understanding and wiping multiply times in a dungeon isnt unexpected, dunno how it is now though

It's boring to be time-gated on Mythic difficulty. Try me again... Time-gating =/= challenge. It means that it takes time.



I was thinking about trying this. I played for a day in Beta long time ago. I'd be interested in checking on up the status of that though.
