currently i'm around 630 ilvl
i'm fury at the moment, but would glad be a viable spec until i do raids and get more gear for fury?
since fury is so gear dependent

Glad and fury is not that big in dps difference imo. But glad also got some neat abilities to help the raid, as long as you stay away from arms you should be all good in both specs.

Keep in mind it feels a lot easier to get gear with the right stats for glad compared to fury. At least for me
