I remember hearing that you could keep the same ilvl gear equipped and it will change stats depending on your spec. Did they stick to that?

Ive seen int greyed out on plate gear while on warrior so maybe.

I think it takes a crafted thing to change it (so it costs gold to do it).

Why wouldn't it cost gold? As long as it's not 5k per change I'm good with it.

Nah, I am saying it's something crafted.
Not every item has this, mainly just items for Paladins (Holy/Ret).
Backs have this also, switching from Strength to Agility or Intellect.

So not as extensive as once planned...
