Started back up recently and I'm looking to optimize before the xpac hits. How accurate is Simcraft?

It's theorycrafted maximum dps, it's not all that accurate but it's a decent reference I guess
e/ Also, dps ranking in raids is different for almost every fight

However simulated and no one ever actually reaching those numbers that're ranked per spec, SimulationCraft is still the most reliable tool anyone can use to measure a spec's capacity. SimCraft the same complex mechanics as WoW itself does, and by that ruling it should be followed. When it comes to talents, gems and enchants recommended for your particular spec you should consider it proven science and something to oblige by.

My guild always goes nuts over it, but personally I think its unreliable and ineffective. You should be comparing your DPS to the top of your class on warcraftlogs, not your "theoretical" ideal which ignores movement and the human aspect.
