My friend had MoP on his account and he hasn't played in ages, I didn't even think he had Cata.

they might have added it if you bought the battle chest or something, i noticed my 2nd account i havent used in ages had mop on it all of a sudden and i know i didnt buy it

Yes they announced that everything up until MoP is part of the standard game now. The only expansion that exists now is WoD.

That sounds logical. I'm pretty sure the battle chest is what he had.

All expansions were combined into the battlechest, since buying 5 individual games was rather intimidating for people looking to get started.

Still gotta buy wod though
