In your case I suggest trying both. Personally I prefer classic for its slower pace, more difficult leveling and the journey being the best experience. Retail (the new / "normal" version) is way quicker because you want to get to max level asap and start doing everything there is to do there such as dungeons, raids, delves, pvp, hunt achievments, build and decorate your house, collect battle pets etc etc.
