I clicked all but a few of my spells for a year+ as well, like many other did. But there were be no way to re-experience that feeling of everyone being noob and exploring this huge game together. Nowadays, even people who didn't know anything about the content would just wowhead it and know everything instantly. Thottbot didn't exist for a good few months after release. Discovering Duke Hydraxis wouldn't even be a significant part of the game experience as people would just go there are 57 and use his quests to level.

its not even the exp from playing the game i would want, i want the game to be worth playing again lol

I agree with you 100%. All I'm saying is I think they would have to revise the way some things worked in order to recreate the experience.

If everyone knew about the Royal Seal of Alexis, what would happen to it and exactly when it would happen, then all the charm of the item gets sucked out. Same thing goes for the epic mounts that got removed.

I feel like 99% of you weren't actually around in vanilla. It wasn't all that hard, it was a lack of knowledge like other people have stated that made it hard. Once you figured out fights it was rather easy, plus once everyone was properly geared it was even easier.

being 'properly geared' meant something totally different back then though. Level 52-58 blues were 'endgame raid gear' in the beginning. Actually acquiring a single trinket with a beneficial effect was an accomplishment. Once you had gotten proper gear for your class, you had basically completed the challenge already, so of course things became easier.

Your statement "it wasn't all that hard' is too vague for me to agree with. The challenges were just different. Most of the players today would not able to handle the 3 hour 5-man instance runs where you actually had to CC every pull, wait for aggro and dps only the right target. Where accidentally aggroing an extra mob means a wipe that takes you 15 minutes to walk back from. Hell, some players today wouldn't even be able to walk their ass from Orgrimmar to Blackrock Mountain to enter the instance, nevermind actually complete it.

By today's standards, the actual class and boss mechanics are pitiful compared to what we've seen in later content. But that wasn't really the challenge back then. Successfully walking from Light's Hope to Stratholme without being indefinitely corpse camped was the challenge.

It wasn't hard, no need to go in to depth to understand. The mechanics were much easier back then, plain and simple. I played WoW from release until the end of TBC, then I quit. I came back at the end of MoP, game is much more complex now. People can say it's for casuals now but it has a lot more to offer now than it did in vanilla. People don't realize how boring and easy vanilla would be now if it was on live servers like it was when it originally came out. If you can't understand how it was easy I guess you didn't play much PvE back then. Besides pre nerf Cthulu, it was a fairly easy game.

I did play on a private vanilla server for a few years a while ago. I remembered all the fights and our guild cruised through content and when we finally downed everything I quit again. Honestly it's not that challenging if you just have a group of competent people.

bro, I did say that the mechanics are pitiful compared to today in the post you just quoted. I also suggested earlier in this thread that boss mechanics would have to be revised for Blizzard to release a vanilla server.

But you aren't responding to the second half of it which is that there was also other hard things in vanilla aside from raid/class mechanics that introduced difficulty.

People today wanna do a dungeon? press a button you and gratz u are doing the dungeon. The entire social, travel, and forced world pvp aspect of difficulty has been removed.
