I know that Booty Bay has an AH and Mailbox both in range of eachother so you literally don't have to move to use them, but Booty Bay is also hostile territory, and it requires 20 seconds to logout, which are both negatives for bank alts.

Vale of Eternal Blossoms isn't terrible, but it -does- require moving to go from AH to Mailbox, albeit like 3 steps. Still, if were going to min max our trading, that can add up and be abit tedius. Also, there is a bug where a bird will kill a low level alt there lmao, and it requires engineering (which isn't a big deal, but worth mentioning.)

I'm just curious if there are any spots similar that don't have these negatives? What are your favorite AH spots, and is there a holy grail AH spot where you don't have to move between AH and mailbox, without a bunch of negative aspects of using it?

Is 3 seconds of walking really too much?

I use TB cus there's never anyone there and it seems easiest to load for my comp.

It's basically how you look at it. If you're AHing all day long, then it adds up and any amount of movement disrupts the rythm of using the AH itself. It's also just a matter of choosing to spend mental effort in finding an efficient setup vs tedius physical effort of moving back and fourth back and fourth over and over again in game. I'd just rather do the mental effort instead really.

Also I found the best spots since making this thread. It's still Booty Bay for horde on a PvE server, Vale for Horde on a PvP server, and Vale for an Alliance regardless of server type. That is unless someone is holding back some godly AH spot lol, but I doubt it.

If it's just casual play though, stopping by the AH randomly to unload like 3 things or whatever, then it really doesn't matter which AH you use, only matters when you're playing the AH all day.

For alliance, Stormwind -Dwarven District AH, Mailbox and bank are pretty close

for horde, Warspear AH - mailbox close, bank a bit further

Wouldn't Valley of Strength in Org be closer than Warspear?

It's like right there.

I feel like Booty Bay is the way to go. My reasoning is the "Doorway effect" : https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-walking-through-doorway-makes-you-forget/

In my experience, if I spend 3 seconds walking between objects sometimes I see/hear something that interrupts my train of thought (could be in-game from the chat log or something from another device irl).

Being able to remember more numbers without distraction helps me do the bank/ah/craft work better. That might just be me though.

Sure, the occasional gank happens. How much time you lose due to pvp would vary by server, there's no universal way to judge that aspect. And yes the logout takes time, but switching between chars was a transition already. So I'd rather camp at the place with the fewest distractions.
