Use a guild bank.

I just trade pets to the trader without mentioning the forums/names. Never had issues.

I just didn't know if there were certain precautions people took

A friend got banned using gb method because the guy reported that he took the guild. So he was audited.
But then again I got suspended ("real life trade") during wotlk days. I just gave my friends/guildies my gold and quit playing. Then 3 months later I got an email about I'm suspended lol.. Nothing was traded for the gold. I just gave it away.
