What is a good starting character? I am new to this game and have no clue what i'm doing.

depend on what kind of player u prefer
range, mele , caster

I think caster or range. Not big on melee. Is hunter any good?

hunter or mage or warlock up there as in fun.

I would personally pick mage(they always good for PVE and PVP)

highest dps endgame right now, hunter is

hunters are over played, go warlock or shaman if you wanna be unique

Shadow priest if you want to be unique.

Pick whatever fits you as a person and playstyle.

Dont think about what's unique and what's the best at the moment... all that might change when you reach lvl 100

If you feel for hunter, it's a good choise.

You can stand on long range and you have a pet with you to tank the damage while you kill stuff.

Hunter isn't best dps. actually isn't that good for most fights. Every fight except for 1 has good aoe/cleave. Warlocks have good cleave.

hunter is used for tons of the mechanics, this is a new simcraft, some classes got buffed/nerfed

all the warlocks I know that play hate their class, theyre so boring
