You can trade fg for a wow token, which you need to meet up ingame in order to receive.
However.
You can make a ticket, and ask for 1days gametime and say you have a friend who wants to gift you a token ingame, and then the gms will usually give you a days gametime :)

Can you use wow tokens only if you play classic?

No. They are in retail aswell.
