Is it possible to play Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction on Battle.net from a VirtualBox Windows XP Professional SP3 virtual machine installation?

I installed the game and patched to 1.14d by connecting to Asia realm but keep getting the

Unable to Identify Version

Battle.net is unable to properly identify your application version.

error. Also noticed that the game keeps loading Asia as the realm when I run it. I wonder if that's a permission issue or if maybe it just defaults to the last successful connection. Running as a user with admin privileges doesn't seem to help, neither does running in compatibility mode. The game is showing v 1.14d at the launch screen.

The game is displaying the error after Checking Versions.

No, i wouldn't unless you want a BAN blizzard does that a lot with Virtual mahines and VPN usually instant.

I can't get it working anymore since patch 1.14d. Try Sandboxie

blizzard firewall block all user that uses XP & Vista in 2016

they no longer will be able to connect to Battle.net

Win 7 and up still works.

this was added in 2016 with the release of 1.14a and continued to D

most people just dident notice cuz they upgraded to newer OS
