Was wondering if you guys thought it was better for faster clearing/resist/etc. with a sorc that uses an infinity scythe or if it is better they use hoto /w ss or monarch spirit with the merc using infinity.

I'm seeing more sorcs using infinity on themselves and so I was wondering what your guys' thoughts were. Thanks.

Nova sorc holds infinity

Lightning sorc uses crescent moon +spirit

Blizzard sorc can be naked


Fire soec uses 30/30 6x facet weapon + Phoenix shield


All sorc mercs, except for nova nerf, uses infinity


Nova merc uses insight

Thanks. By being naked, like how "naked" do you mean?

Lightning sorcs seem to benefit from Hoto, no? Plus skills, mana, resis, etc. With lightning sunders and infinity merc, I'm wondering if this is necessary to get that -35% from crescent.

The -35% increases your damage by between 35-70%

Hoto will not come anywhere close to doing that

If it is necessary (or rather more beneficial) depends on what you are doing. In CS you break the lightning immunity of some units with infinity but they still have a lot of lightning resistance --> your dmg is much higher, if you reduce the resistance further.
If you farm areas, where the units were not Immune to begin with and/or have low resistances (e.g. ghost farming in arcane sanctuary) eschutas, hoto etc. are superior.

Crescent moon is very underrated.
