The real reason for the ban wave was to force d2 players to play diablo immortal because they cant afford d2r again dont want to buy it or some other reason. There all about the money schemes.

An interesting take, for sure. I wouldn’t put it past Blizzard’s (small) D2 team — while in the boardroom, discussing tactics for the ban wave — if it was brought up that, “if we do this, these botters will likely play Diablo Immortal! Muahahah!” Blizzard has indeed revealed that they’re money fiends in the last decade (without much care about gamer wants).

But, in all honesty, I think Blizzard is just “growing up.” I think they’d issue this ban wave with or without Diablo Immortal in mind.

Good on Blizzard for this ban wave. Finding items in d2, for the casual player, will become fun and meaningful again (given that Blizzard is really harping down on bots).

Honestly i was just using map hack because botters fed eceonomy and i wanted to be able to keep up to make my characters.

Totally understandable. I fully agree with the sentiment that it feels bad to be handicapped in D2 (if your peers are botting, then you kind of have to, too, to keep up).

To be honest, maphack is a much lesser offense than botting. At least it promotes manual play. Botting doesn’t. As long as Blizzard takes a stab at ALL bots and maphack, everyone will be at equal footing again. We shall see
